Tulip Quilt

This customer quilt was pieced as a birthday gift for her daughter who loves tulips! She chose the pantograph Daisy Swirl. Such a beautiful addition to this already lovely quilt!

My customers fabric choices for her quilts truly make my heart sing! This was hers as well

Back to the Tulips adding a different flower instead of just looking for a Tulip design added more of a flower garden look along with some curves to help soften the angular lines. Just a personal thought of mine 😊

A Sweet Winnie the Pooh Quilt

While recently reading bedtime stories to one of my granddaughters (3yrs old) I asked her if she knew who Winnie the Pooh was she said no so I read her one of the books…so much silly fun!

Anyways, this was a fun, happy customer quilt that was quilted by me this summer…

We chose the pantograph Popcorn for its fun light puffy like clouds appearance. Again as I have mentioned before, when quilting a child’s quilt I like a little more density which I feel adds to the durability of the quilt.

The backing as you can see it a delightful rainbow of colours, a wonderful compliment to the quilt top.

Betty’s Globe Quilt

My very dear friend Betty had me quilt her Globe Quilt (pattern and fabric from Zen Chic by Moda which had been gifted to her by her son and daughter in law)

I stitched the globe itself with ruler work using the angles to accentuate the 3-D effect of the globe itself and freehand fun in the background.

In addition to the quilting, Betty had me bind the quilt and add the hanging sleeve before sending it back to her daughter in law as a surprise!

The quilt has arrived and Nicole shared this picture of the quilt yesterday!

A Robot Quilt

Elizabeth Hartman has many fun children’s quilt patterns and this one is definitely a winner.

Karen pieced it for her 2 year old grandson and it’s sure to be part of many fun adventures, with that in mind I chose the pantograph Waterworld not only for its playfulness but also its density will add durability to withstand hopefully years of use!

The backing, is another fun robot print!

Colour and Play and Quilting

How much fun is this quilt!
As a quilt maker myself I am almost always drawn primarily to scrappier quilts, the more fabrics the better! I also love the improv piecing! When this quilt first arrived and was added to my queue it was a challenge not to drop everything and just work on it! I did however make it wait its turn.

The quilting design New Wave that was chosen worked perfectly adding an extra layer of playfulness and fun!

As if that wasn’t enough fun and excitement in a quilt, the backing added even more delight with both colour and the tumbling blocks!

A Graduation Quilt

I had the pleasure of working on a very special quilt that created by my customer with so much love for her graduating Granddaughter.

The quilt top includes her favourite colours as well as books due to her love of reading, two of the blocks have her initials pieced. The backing was chosen for her love of flowers.

I chose the pantograph Garden Frills. I love the density of this design for a quilt that will follow the graduate to University in the fall and will hopefully be well used! The quilting softens the straight line piecing on the top and plays so beautifully with the backing fabric.

I was given the task of both choosing the fabric for and completing the binding for the quilt. With so much happening visually on both top and back I chose a complimenting dark green solid for the binding.

Her quilt was ready for gifting when it was picked up.

A Woven Star Quilt

This stunning quilt made with rich looking metalic fabrics was made even more amazing with the use of left over fabrics from the top, pieced into a fantastic quilt backing.

I chose the quilting design Swirl of Thorns along with a Mocha coloured thread that plays so nicely with the high contrasting colours in the quilt. Swirls also add a fun dimension against angular piecing.

Stepping Stones

Quilting Spirals onto a very angular quilt like this one (called Stepping Stones by Judy Niemeyer) added an additional layer of visual interest to an already spectacular quilt!

Thread colour and weight is always an important consideration when planning. In this case I wasn’t wanting to distract from the piecing. By choosing a finer thread in a silver grey the thread stays in the background. There also is less contrast against the black sashing.

The Yard Moose

Yes it’s been awhile 😊 and with good reason. I will share that with you soon.

First things first to catch up on some quilting…

The Yard Moose was such a fun quilt to work on! We chose the pantograph Ground Cover… after all moose are often in the bush just peeking out…or maybe hiding.

How perfect is this backing fabric with splashes of colour matching the quilt top!

Jan’s quilt was trimmed and ready for binding at pick up and it wasn’t long before she sent me this picture of her finished quilt.

Benjamin’s Quilt

What a perfect quilt for a 3 year old grandson! The construction quilt!

The pantograph Waterworld was chosen for the quilting design by us as it offers a perfect density that should hold this quilt together well for what we hope many hours of play and snuggling.

The backing print full of loaders was a perfect choice for the quilt and the print was perfectly matched so that it’s hard to find the seam.
