Quilt Bindings

I truly have the best job!! I have been quilting for others with my APQS Millennium Longarm for 22 years and I still love it!

I do love quilts and sometimes am asked to complete the bindings as well. Sometimes partially so that my customer can finish their quilt stitching the binding down by hand and some like me to do that for them as well.

It really is a wonderful way to spend my workday breaks.

I love the binding stage myself. Before I sew the binding onto the quilt I take the time to lay the pieced binding strip over the quilt and adjust it so that the pieced sections do not land on the corners where it creates bulk.

I do find it helpful to press the attached binding away from the quilt as well. I know many people pin it clip the binding down before doing the final stitching, I however do not as I find that pins and clips catch the thread when I am stitching.

I know that many quilters now stitch their bindings by machine which may make the binding more durable…for me there is something so relaxing having a needle and thread in my hands.
